Guwahati Cyber Police Recover ₹20 Lakhs from NEET Consultancy Scam
Guwahati, July 30, 2024: A team from the Cyber Police Station of Guwahati Police has successfully recovered ₹20 lakhs from a recent online scam involving a fake consultancy for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The scam targeted an individual who was defrauded of ₹40 lakhs under the pretense of providing consultancy services for NEET preparation.
The victim had been deceived by fraudulent promises of guaranteed support, which led to the substantial financial loss. Following the report, the Cyber Police Station launched an intensive investigation, leading to the recovery of half of the scammed amount. This significant recovery marks a critical step in mitigating the financial impact on the victim.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to track down and recover the remaining ₹20 lakhs. The Guwahati Police urge the public to remain vigilant against similar online fraud schemes and report any suspicious activities to prevent further incidents.
