Guwahati Police Seize 262 Grams of Suspected Heroin, One Arrested in Major Drug Bust
Guwahati, August 31, 2024: In a significant operation, the East Guwahati Police District successfully intercepted a vehicle today, leading to the seizure of a substantial quantity of suspected heroin. Acting on precise intelligence, a team from Jorabat Out Post, under the Basistha Police Station, halted a car bearing registration number AS 25 J 3055 early this morning.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the police discovered 19 soap cases filled with a substance believed to be heroin, hidden strategically within the car. The total weight of the seized substance is approximately 262 grams.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sultan Ahmed Laskar, 45, a resident of Sonai, was immediately taken into custody. The arrest marks a critical point in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the drug network involved. The authorities are focusing on tracing the origins of the seized narcotics and identifying any potential accomplices connected to this case.
