Hajo Police Bust IPL Gambling Ring; Two Gamblers Arrested with Luxury Vehicles Seized
Hajo, April 03, 2024: In a decisive move against illicit gambling activities in the region, the vigilant Hajo police apprehended two individuals suspected of orchestrating a network of illegal betting during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Acting upon a reliable tip-off, Police successfully detained the alleged culprits, identified as Salimuddin hailing from Sontoli and Kamal Hussain from Kasomari.
The arrests, made in connection with an extensive gambling operation spanning various locations within Hajo, mark a significant stride in curbing unlawful wagering activities prevalent during high-profile sporting events. Seizing upon the opportunity presented by the IPL fervor, the arrested individuals purportedly sought to exploit the enthusiasm surrounding the tournament for personal gain.
During the apprehension, Hajo police confiscated substantial evidence implicating the accused, including a sum of Rs 20,000 in cash, three mobile communication devices crucial for coordinating their illicit activities, and notably, a luxury vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 FS 8663. These assets, believed to be integral to the operation’s infrastructure, have been secured by authorities pending further investigation.
