Hatigaon Police Bust Cybercrime Gang, Recover Multiple Fraud Tools in Guwahati
Guwahati: A cybercrime operation in Guwahati led by Hatigaon Police Station resulted in the arrest of Ajmol Hussain. The suspect, hailing from Radhakuchi in Barpeta, was apprehended at Bhetapara. Investigators identified him as a critical link in a network engaged in online fraud.
A raid at Hussain’s premises in Tetelia uncovered significant evidence. Police seized 12 ATM cards, six bank passbooks, two SIM cards, and ten mobile phones. These items are suspected to have been used in cyber fraud schemes.
Authorities revealed that the accused was involved in creating “mule bank accounts.” These accounts allegedly laundered money extorted by cybercriminals, making detection difficult for authorities.
The operation highlights the growing menace of digital fraud in the region. Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities. The investigation continues, with officials working to trace the broader network involved.
