Heart Care Society of Assam Celebrates Women Heart Month at Guwahati Press Club
Guwahati, March 02, 2024: In a momentous event at Gauhati Press Club, the Heart Care Society of Assam (HCSA), a non-profit NGO affiliated with the World Heart Federation, marked the conclusion of Women Heart Month with a vibrant celebration.
Dedicated to raising awareness about heart ailments, especially among women, the month of February witnessed HCSA’s impactful initiatives throughout various locations in Assam. Today’s event at Gauhati Press Club served as the pinnacle of their efforts for Women Heart Month in 2024.
Kicking off the proceedings, Mrs. Nilakshi Goswami Baruah, Secretary of the Ladies Forum of HCSA, extended a warm welcome to distinguished guests, dignitaries, and media personnel. The event commenced with a soul-stirring devotional song performed by Mrs. Shikhamoni Bezbaruah Goswami.

Mr. I. Mazid, the Vice-President of HCSA, shared insights into the society’s mission, vision, and diverse activities, emphasizing their commitment to celebrating Women Heart Month annually in February. Renowned cardiologist and HCSA President, Dr. N. K. Bhattacharjee, delivered a comprehensive presentation on heart care and health for women.
Introducing an ambitious project named CRIS-CARD (comprehensive cardiac risk inventory and score card), a collaborative effort with Apollo Clinic, Ulubari, Guwahati, Dr. Bhattacharjee aims to provide free heart care services for women.
The event featured a dynamic panel discussion with eminent doctors, including Dr. Jayashree Hanse Barah, senior gynecologist; Dr. Chiranjita Phukon, noted Physician and secretary of API, Guwahati Chapter; Dr. Chandra Prasad Thakur, a young Cardiologist; Dr. Runjon Terongpi, Internal Medicine Specialist, and Physician Dr. B. B. Kukreja. The experts delved into various aspects of heart ailments and women’s health, covering causes, prevention, and management.
The interactive session witnessed lively engagement as the panelists responded to audience queries on heart and health care. Dr. N. K. Bhattacharjee, the moderator, summarized the discussion, urging everyone to adopt timely and appropriate measures for a healthy heart and a happy life.
The event drew participation from key figures, including the President of HCSA Guwahati Chapter, Secretary of the Guwahati Chapter Mr. Pranjal Kumar Sharma, Secretary HCSA Mr Debasish Banerjee, Media Coordinator Ms. Manashree Prakash, and numerous other active society members.
Mrs. Rupa Bhattacharjee, P.R. Coordinator of the Guwahati Chapter, concluded the program with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the collective efforts in making Women Heart Month a resounding success.
