Heroin Seized in Guwahati: Four Arrested in Major Drug Bust at Khanapara
Guwahati: In a significant operation, an East Guwahati Police District team from Dispur Police Station intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS 01 RC 9841 at Khanapara on GS Road, Guwahati, acting on credible intelligence. The operation, conducted on Thursday, resulted in the seizure of 10 soap cases of suspected heroin, weighing 110.81 grams, and recovery of ₹5,000 in cash.
Two individuals, identified as Raj Kumar Thakur of Madhubani district and Sanjeet Kamat of Samastipur district, both hailing from Bihar, were apprehended on the spot.
Further interrogation of the duo provided vital leads, which enabled the police to apprehend two more individuals. The additional suspects, Saju Rahman Laskar and Amirul Islam, are residents of Dhalai in Cachar district.
The seized contraband and cash were taken into custody, and all four accused have been booked under relevant sections of the law. Speaking about the operation, a senior police officer confirmed that legal action has been initiated, and the investigation is ongoing to unearth further links in the drug trafficking network.
This seizure underscores the continuing efforts of the Assam Police to combat drug trafficking and curb the menace of narcotics in the region.
