Dhubri, February 15, 2024: A significant jailbreak occurred today morning as an inmate escaped from Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, exposing lapses in Dhubri law enforcement. Confirming the incident, Prasanta Rajbongshi, the District Jail Superintendent of Dhubri, stated that Gulzar Uddin Ahmed, also known as Raju, had been admitted to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital on February 6 due to health issues.
Gulzar Uddin Ahmed alias Raju had been sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of one lakh and sent to Dhubri District Jail. On February 15, taking advantage of the negligence of authorities on duty, Gulzar, also known as Raju, managed to escape from Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, causing panic in the community.

On January 3, 2023, the Additional District and Sessions Judge of Dhubri, Syed Burhanur Rahman, found the two brothers, Gulzar Uddin Ahmed alias Raju and Gafur Uddin Ahmed alias Rakesh, guilty under section 22 (c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Both were sentenced to ten years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of one lakh each.
