Sports Desk, April 11, 2024: In a dramatic encounter in the Indian Premier League 2024, Rajasthan Royals faced a disappointing defeat against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The match commenced with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continuing his struggle with low scores, as he fell prey to the bowling prowess of Gujarat Titans’ pacer, Umesh Yadav. Shortly after, spin maestro Rashid Khan showcased his skill by dismissing Jos Buttler in the crucial sixth over.

Rain played spoilsport, causing interruptions in the game. Despite the delays, Gujarat Titans’ skipper took the bold decision to invite Rajasthan Royals to bat.

Rajasthan Royals, however, found their rhythm in the latter part of the innings, courtesy of stellar performances from premier batter Riyan Parag and skipper Sanju Samson. The duo’s remarkable 130-run partnership for the third wicket propelled Rajasthan’s total to a formidable 196/3 in their allotted 20 overs, marking the second-highest partnership for RR for the third or lower wicket.

Standout bowler Rashid Khan shone for Gujarat Titans, conceding only 18 runs and claiming the crucial wicket of Buttler in his four overs.

In response, Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill led the charge with an aggressive innings, smashing 72 runs off just 44 deliveries. Gill’s stellar performance also saw him achieve the milestone of becoming the youngest Indian batter to amass 3,000 runs in the IPL.

Despite Rajasthan Royals’ spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissing Gill in the 16th over, the batting prowess of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan guided Gujarat Titans to a thrilling victory. Tewatia contributed 22 runs, while Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on 24*. Rashid Khan’s last-ball boundary proved decisive, securing a memorable three-wicket win for the 2022 champions and handing Rajasthan Royals their first defeat of the new season.
