Desk Report, January 21, 2024 – IPS Officer Anand Mishra, who recently tendered his resignation, officially relinquished his role as the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Lakhimpur district on Saturday. Mishra, during this transitional period, remains attached to the Assam Police headquarters in Guwahati until the formal acceptance of his resignation.
Sharing his sentiments through a heartfelt social media post, the IPS officer communicated that he had formally handed over the charge of SP, Lakhimpur, Assam, and is currently awaiting his formal release. He also mentioned his plan to proceed to Guwahati before heading to Bihar.
Mishra’s post read, “After the acceptance of my resignation by the State Govt. and expecting the final Notification in a few days, today, 20-01-2024, I have handed over the Charge of the office of the SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE, Lakhimpur, Assam, and proceeding to Guwahati before leaving for Bihar.”
Expressing gratitude, Mishra added, “I am returning with an immense sense of thankfulness and gratitude towards the people of Lakhimpur and Assam, my Colleagues, Seniors, and Well-wishers, individually and collectively. I shall fondly remember and cherish this association for life with much pride and satisfaction. I have resigned from my dream Job, not from Service! We shall keep meeting.”
Following Mishra’s resignation, Ms. Aparna Natrajan, a 2014-batch IPS officer, assumed the role of the new SP for Lakhimpur. Aparna Natrajan previously served as the Principal of Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Golaghat’s Dergaon.
Anand Mishra, a 2011-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, had earlier worked for the West Bengal Civil Service till 2010 before becoming an IPS officer. He secured All India Rank (AIR) 225 in the UPSC CSE 2010. Having completed his schooling and college studies in Kolkata, he passed the West Bengal Civil Service Exam in 2005 and worked for the West Bengal Civil Service till 2010.
