Kolkata Knight Riders Clinch Third IPL Title in a Low-Scoring Thriller
Sports Desk, May 26, 2024: In a captivating low-scoring final, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious, securing the coveted IPL 2024 title after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match, characterized by intense competition and strategic brilliance, saw SRH batting first and managing to set a modest total of 113 all out in 18.3 overs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the opener for KKR, played a pivotal role in setting a solid foundation for his team by scoring 39 runs off 32 balls, providing the much-needed impetus at the start of the innings.
Chasing the target, KKR showcased a clinical batting display, led by Venkatesh Iyer, who remained unbeaten with a stellar knock of 52 runs. Alongside him, skipper Shreyas Iyer contributed 6 runs not out, guiding KKR to clinch the championship in just 10.3 overs with the loss of two wickets.

In individual accolades, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed the prestigious Orange Cap with an outstanding tally of 741 runs, showcasing his batting prowess throughout the season. Meanwhile, Harshal Patel of Punjab Kings clinched the Purple Cap with an impressive haul of 24 wickets, demonstrating exceptional bowling skills.
