Public Foils Cattle Smuggling Attempt in Tulsibeel, Gossaigaon
Gossaigaon, April 25, 2024: In a daring act of public vigilance, locals stopped a vehicle carrying smuggled catlles to Tulsibeel in Gossaigaon. A heated scuffle ensued when a crowd found illegal items hidden inside the four-wheeler. Alert locals spotted three cows hidden inside the vehicle.
During the chaos, one of the alleged smugglers, Sadeq Ali, was restrained by the crowd while his accomplice, Hashem Ali, managed to evade arrest and fled the scene.
The rapid development prompted the intervention of Tulsibeel police, who quickly arrived to restore order. Police diffused the situation and calmed the tense crowd. According to reports, the car bearing registration number AS 01Q 0014 was stopped while it was traveling from Tulsibeel in Gossaigaon to Dhubri.
Accusations arose in the community that the smugglers had secret ties with local law enforcement. Residents lamented the renewed theft of cattle in Tulsibeel area, saying the authorities paid no attention to it. Despite continued harassment, Tulsibeel police acted aggressively and impounded the vehicle and detained the suspect for further interrogation.
