Major Drug Bust in Khanapara, Guwahati: Rs 12 Crore Worth of Narcotics Seized
Guwahati, April 29, 2024: In a major victory against illegal drug trade yesterday, Special Task Force intercepted a large quantity of drugs worth Rs 12 crore in Khanapara, Guwahati. The operation by a vigilant Special Task Force (STF) team led to the arrest of two top suspects and the seizure of illegal drugs
The intercepted drugs were brought from Tripura were concealed in a Wagonr vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 FN 7633. Acting swiftly on intelligence, STF intercepted the vehicle at Khanapara and foiled an attempt to smuggle the goods will drop to its destination in Guwahati.
Goraimari residents Jamal Ali and Salimuddin have been identified as the prime suspects in the illegal trade. Following their suspicions, authorities found about one and half kilograms of heroin in their possession. The successful arrest of these individuals, as well as the seizure of drugs, represents a significant blow to the illegal drugs operating in the region.
Inspector General of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Pathak led the operation with exemplary planning and efficiency in making the cut.
