Big Drug Bust in Aizawl: 440 Soap Cases Concealed 5.427 kg Heroin
Desk Report, April 04, 2024: In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, authorities seized 5.427 kg of heroin concealed within 440 soap cases, locally known as “hawng”, on April 3, 2024, at Aizawl View Falkland Veng. The market value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around 123.4 lakhs.
The alleged perpetrators, identified as Lalnunmawia, also known as Puia from Tuidu, Tripura (currently residing at Edenthar Veng, Aizawl), and Lalchawiliana from Khampat Kanaan Veng, Myanmar (currently residing at Vairengte Kawngthar Veng), were apprehended at the scene of the crime.
The heroin was discovered concealed inside a secondhand bale, which was being transported by a Tata Yodha Truck with registration number MZ 01V 2018. The vehicle was also seized at the scene of the arrest.

Investigations have revealed that the seized heroin was imported from Myanmar through the Champhai District. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, and further investigations are underway.
