Manipur Police Conducts Successful Operations, Recovers Arms and Arrests Suspect with Narcotics
Desk Report, June 19, 2024: In a series of search operations aimed at maintaining law and order, Manipur Police carried out extensive area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable regions of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts. These operations led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Among the items seized were one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine, a bolt-action rifle, a 9mm empty magazine, five HE-36 hand grenades, a Chinese hand grenade, thirteen .303 HD cartridges, four grenade arming rings, five tube launchers, a 2-inch mortar shell, an 81mm mortar shell, and a RPG shell. These recoveries were made from the Khujairok Turel area, a locale adjoining Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.
In a separate operation on June 17, 2024, the Manipur Police arrested an individual identified as Th. John, aged 32, from Mao in the Senapati district. During the arrest, authorities recovered 22 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar. The total weight of the narcotics, including packaging, was 260 grams.
These operations underscore the ongoing efforts by Manipur Police to curb illegal activities and ensure the safety and security of the region. The recovered arms and narcotics highlight the significant challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in the state.
