Officials Honor Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day in Kamrup

Guwahati; January 30, 2025: Kamrup district officials observed Martyrs’ Day with a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The event took place at the Integrated District Office, Kamrup, where dignitaries and officials gathered to pay their respects.

To honor those who laid down their lives for India’s independence, a two-minute silence was observed. The atmosphere was filled with reverence as officials remembered the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters.

The tribute ceremony was led by Deba Kumar Mishra, the District Commissioner of Kamrup. He was joined by Susanta Kumar Dutta, the District Development Commissioner, along with Pranab Dutta Goswami and Kamal Baruah, both Additional District Commissioners of Kamrup. Other senior officials from the district administration also attended the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, officials emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of national leaders. They encouraged citizens to uphold Gandhi’s values of non-violence, peace, and unity.

Martyrs’ Day, observed on January 30, marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. Across India, people pay their respects to Gandhi and other freedom fighters who played a crucial role in India’s independence movement.

Every year, government offices, educational institutions, and organizations observe the day with tributes, prayers, and remembrance ceremonies. The event in Kamrup was a part of the nationwide commemoration to honor the spirit of those who fought for India’s sovereignty.
