Modi 3.0: Diverse Council of Ministers Takes Oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan
Desk Report, June 10, 2024: In a momentous occasion at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath of office for the third consecutive term alongside a diverse council of ministers, comprising 71 members. Among them are 30 Cabinet ministers, 5 Ministers of State-Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State.
Ahead of the official ceremony, Prime Minister Modi hosted a high tea for the prospective council of ministers, underscoring the inclusive representation from across the nation and various social groups. While the allocation of portfolios for the ministers is yet to be disclosed, the newly formed council boasts individuals from diverse backgrounds, many of whom bring extensive parliamentary and governmental experience to the table, including former chief ministers, members of state legislatures, and individuals with prior ministerial roles in various states.
The cabinet lineup reflects a wide spectrum of political affiliations, with leaders from parties such as BJP, JD(S), HAM, JD(U), TDP, LJP, and others securing positions. Additionally, the council underscores substantial representation from marginalized communities, including Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and minorities.

The total strength of the council adheres to constitutional limits, ensuring it does not exceed 15% of the total Lok Sabha MPs. With the BJP’s recent electoral victory, securing 240 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Prime Minister continues to command significant support within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Moreover, the swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including leaders and heads of neighboring regions and the Indian Ocean region, underscoring the event’s significance on the international stage.
