Assam CM Attends MoU Signing for Documentary on Veer Lachit Borphukan
Guwahati, August 12, 2024: In a significant development, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony today between the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, and Prasar Bharati. The MoU paves the way for the production of a 52-episode documentary on the legendary Assamese warrior, Veer Lachit Borphukan.
The agreement was signed by Smt. Meenakshi Das Nath, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, and Amit Kumar, Director General of Doordarshan. The documentary aims to honor Lachit Borphukan’s unparalleled contributions to India’s defense and his steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.
Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the importance of the project, stating that the documentary would combine rigorous historical research with compelling storytelling and cutting-edge digital technology. He expressed confidence that the production would engage a broad audience, elevating Lachit Borphukan’s legacy to both national and international prominence.
