Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express Collides with Goods Train in Tamil Nadu; Injuries Reported
A severe train collision occurred on October 11, 2024, when the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express struck a stationary goods train near Kavarapettai, Tamil Nadu. The accident caused significant damage and injuries, raising concerns about passenger safety.
The incident happened around 8:50 PM when the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express, identified as train number 12578, was traveling from Mysuru to Darbhanga. The express train unexpectedly entered a loop line and collided with the goods train on the same track.
As a result, four air-conditioned coaches derailed, and two of them caught fire. Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as flames engulfed the affected coaches, sending passengers into a panic.
Emergency services, including ambulances and fire brigades, responded quickly to the site, working tirelessly to control the fire and assist injured passengers. While authorities have confirmed injuries, the exact number and severity of those hurt remain unclear.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed to help local authorities. Efforts are focused on extinguishing the fire and providing medical assistance to those affected. The Thiruvallur District Collector confirmed that the accident’s proximity to Kavarapettai railway station allowed emergency teams to respond swiftly.
