In a tragic incident, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son’s office on Saturday night. The attack took place in a public area, creating panic as the assailants used firecrackers as a diversion.
Siddique sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach and chest. He was immediately transported to Lilavati Hospital, where medical personnel attempted to save his life. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The police have swiftly arrested two individuals in connection with the shooting. One of the accused hails from Uttar Pradesh, while the other is from Haryana. A third suspect, believed to be involved in the murder, remains at large, and efforts to locate and apprehend him are ongoing.
Responding to the killing, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the act of violence and assured the public that strict measures will be taken. “Two accused have been arrested, and one suspect is still at large. No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands,” Shinde said, reiterating the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and the investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover the details surrounding Siddique’s murder.
