NIT Student Found Dead in Apparent Suicide Tragedy
Silchar, May 07, 2024: In a distressing turn of events, the tranquil atmosphere of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar, was shattered yesterday at approximately 12:00 PM, as authorities received alarming reports of a suicidal hanging within Guest House Room No. 04, under the jurisdiction of Ghungoor Outpost, P.S: Silchar. Upon swift response, a police team rushed to the scene, only to discover the lifeless body of 20-year-old NIT student, Kishor Pran Deka, hailing from Tamulpur, Kamrup (R), Assam.
Tragically, it was revealed that Deka had taken his own life by hanging within the confines of the bathroom of Room No. 04. Promptly, local Executive Magistrates were notified, and an inquest into the matter ensued. Subsequently, the deceased’s remains were transported to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for postmortem examination.
Preliminary investigations shed light on a distressing revelation: Deka had been battling acute depression, unbeknownst to many, including his own family. In a poignant turn of events, his parents were summoned to the scene, having been residing with the student at the time of the tragic incident.
Legal procedures have been set into motion, as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Deka’s untimely demise. While the situation remains under close scrutiny, authorities assure the public that vigilance prevails in maintaining peace and order amidst this somber affair.
