Assam Officials Honored with Karmashree Award for Outstanding Contributions
Guwahati, August 06, 2024: In recognition of their exceptional contributions to public administration, three officials from Assam’s Directorate of Archaeology and one Assam Civil Service (ACS) official were honored with the prestigious Karmashree Award 2023-24. The award ceremony took place at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
The distinguished recipients of this year’s Karmashree Award include Dr. Deepi Rekha Kouli, Director of Archaeology, Dr. Nabajit Deuri, Deputy Director of Archaeology, Dr. Chabina Hassan, Deputy Director of Archaeology, and Ranjan Sarma, ACS, Commissioner and Secretary of Indigenous and Tribal Faith and Culture. These officials have been lauded for their dedication and efforts in preserving Assam’s rich archaeological heritage, notably their role in the inclusion of Charaideo Maidam in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
The “Karmashree” Award, established in 2016-17, is the Chief Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration. It aims to acknowledge, recognize, and reward extraordinary and innovative work done by state government officers. The award includes a trophy and an incentive of Rs. 1 lakh, which is to be utilized for the implementation of initiatives or bridging resource gaps in any area of public welfare.
The honored officials have significantly contributed to the preservation and promotion of Assam’s archaeological treasures, setting a benchmark for public service excellence.
