Parents Confirm Identity of Avinash Sarkar’s Body at GMCH Following Flood Tragedy
Guwahati, July 07, 2024: In a heartbreaking development, the distraught parents of Avinash Sarkar have confirmed the grim truth this morning at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH). Avinash, tragically swept away by floodwaters from a roadside drain in Bamunimaidam last Friday, has been identified.
Earlier today, amidst the relentless efforts of rescue teams in Guwahati’s Rajgarh locality, a minor’s body was recovered, suspected to be Avinash’s. The solemn journey to GMCH for identification culminated in the heart-wrenching confirmation by Avinash’s grieving parents.
The day began with renewed urgency as rescue operations intensified, determined to bring closure to the anguished family. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, having personally visited the Sarkar family on Saturday, stood in solidarity and pledged steadfast government support throughout the painstaking search efforts.
