Desk Report, February 04, 2024: In a significant push towards making India the third-largest global economy by 2047, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an array of development projects worth nearly Rs 11,600 crore in Assam. The launch event, held at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati, saw the unveiling of key infrastructure projects funded by both the state and central governments.
PM Modi, addressing a public gathering at the venue, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the people of Guwahati. He acknowledged the symbolic gesture of lighting one lakh earthen lamps in his honor and thanked the attendees for their love and blessings.
The projects, aimed at fostering employment opportunities, developing sporting talents, and boosting the healthcare sector, received special mention from the Prime Minister. He emphasized their potential impact on the medical education and healthcare domains in the state.
Reflecting on the transformative changes witnessed in the last ten years, PM Modi highlighted the expansion of IITs and AIIMS networks across the nation. In Assam alone, the number of medical colleges increased from six to twelve, and the Northeast emerged as a hub for cancer treatment.

PM Modi touched upon the significance of connectivity in the Northeast, emphasizing the government’s efforts in improving road and rail networks. He outlined the commitment to developing infrastructure, citing an allocation of Rs 11 lakh crore in the Budget 2024 for this purpose.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s focus on enhancing the tourism sector in the North East, particularly through initiatives like the Kamakhya corridor. He praised the peace and stability achieved in Assam, leading to increased participation of youths in developmental activities.
PM Modi concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to making India the third-largest economic superpower globally by 2047. The substantial investments and infrastructure development projects unveiled during this visit underscore the commitment towards achieving this ambitious goal.
