Guwahati Police Intercepts Cattle Smuggling Attempt, Arrests 3 Individuals
Guwahati, July 08, 2024: This morning, a vigilant team from the East Guwahati Police District, stationed at the Jorabat Out Post under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station, successfully intercepted two vehicles attempting to smuggle 25 cattle into Meghalaya. The vehicles, bearing registration numbers AS 13 AC 5405 and AS 01 RC 4104, were stopped at the Jorabat crossing.
The police apprehended three individuals involved in the smuggling operation. The arrested persons have been identified as Jaimat Ali, 27, from Dhula; Shahab Ali, 24, from Mangaldoi; and Imran Hussain, 20, also from Mangaldoi. Legal action against the accused has been promptly initiated by the authorities.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the East Guwahati Police District to curb illegal activities and ensure the enforcement of law and order in the region.
