Police Seize 9 Overloaded Dumpers in Gossaigaon
Gossaigaon, May 22, 2024: In a concerted effort to curb the illegal trade of minor minerals, Gossaigaon police conducted a nighttime raid in Bhowraguri in Gossaigaon Sub-Division, resulting in the seizure of nine overloaded dumpers transporting stones and sand. The operation, aimed at addressing the rampant illegal transportation of minor minerals, targeted vehicles violating legal weight limits and operating without proper authorization.
The dumpers seized in the operation are identified by their registration numbers: WB 73 G 5509, WB 63 B 6622, R3EO 8657, WB 73 G 9913, AS 16 AC 4016, WB 63 B 5437, AS 16 AC 4881, WB 71 B 8396, and AS 17 C 7088. These vehicles were found to be transporting stones and sand in violation of legal regulations, contributing to the unregulated and environmentally damaging trade of minor minerals in the region.
Gossaigaon has seen a surge in illegal trade activities, with numerous overloaded dumpers plying various routes day and night. This illicit trade not only undermines lawful commerce but also poses significant risks to road safety and the environment. The recent raid underscores the commitment of Gossaigaon Police to tackle this persistent issue.
The police have initiated an investigation to uncover the network of individuals involved in the illegal trade of stones and sand.
