Cachar Police Conducts Special Operations Resulting in Apprehension and Seizure of Heroin Worth ₹9.5 Crore
Silchar, May 05, 2024: In a decisive move against narcotics trafficking, Cachar Police orchestrated two targeted operations on Sunday, honing in on the areas of Dholai and Lakhipur. The coordinated efforts culminated in the apprehension of two individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected heroin.
The apprehended persons have been identified as Rajibul Islam Laskar, hailing from Jamalpur, and Samim Hussain Laskar, a resident of Natun Dayapur. Acting on intelligence and surveillance, Cachar Police officials discovered 129 soap cases purportedly containing a substance suspected to be heroin, weighing approximately 1.800 kilograms, in the possession of the suspects.
Furthermore, Cachar Police seized crucial assets believed to be linked to the illicit drug trade. These included a Bolero car with registration number AS 24 D 4620 and a motorcycle bearing registration number AS 11X 8210. Investigations suggest these vehicles were utilized in the transportation of the contraband.
According to official estimates provided by Cachar Police, the market value of the seized narcotics stands at approximately ₹9.5 crores. Subsequent inquiries uncovered that the illegal substances were clandestinely transported from Champai in Mizoram and Churachandpur district in Manipur.
