Narendra Modi Reaffirmed as Leader of BJP and NDA, Emphasizes Governance and Progress
Desk Report, June 7, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been formally elected as the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party, and the Lok Sabha, following a unanimous resolution by all NDA alliance partners. Addressing the newly elected Members of Parliament on Friday, Modi underscored the NDA government’s unwavering dedication to providing exemplary governance, expressing his gratitude to the citizens for the renewed mandate to serve.
“The NDA government has delivered good governance to the nation, making NDA synonymous with good governance,” Modi stated. “The welfare of the poor and efficient governance have always been our primary focus.” He reaffirmed his commitment to consensus and progress, describing the NDA as “the most successful alliance” over the past three decades.
Modi emphasized that the NDA remains committed to the principle of “nation first,” and is not merely a coalition for power. “I assure the people of this country that the majority they have given us to run the government will be utilized to strive towards consensus and ensure the nation’s advancement,” he said. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to NDA party leaders for their support in electing him as their leader.
In his speech, Modi congratulated the newly elected MPs, stating, “My congratulations to every newly elected MP.” He acknowledged the significant contributions of party functionaries, saying, “I salute every party functionary with a bow down,” and expressed his gratitude, “It is a great honor for me to be elected as the leader of the NDA.”
Modi reiterated the alliance’s focus on the welfare of the poor and highlighted the crucial role of the middle class in India’s development. “The welfare of the poor is NDA’s main goal,” he asserted, adding, “The role of the middle class in India’s development struggle is very important.” He noted the growing trust and influence of the NDA, particularly in South India, and expressed optimism about the country’s accelerated growth and economic aspirations. “We will fulfill the dream of a developed India,” Modi proclaimed.
Addressing the opposition, Modi expressed hope for an end to disputes over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). “EVMs shut the opposition’s mouth,” he said, adding, “I hope the opposition won’t raise issues about EVMs in the next five years.”
Concluding his address, Modi reaffirmed the NDA’s commitment to fulfilling the country’s developmental goals. “We will take the country further,” he pledged, and promised, “We will fulfill all the resolutions given to the countrymen.”
