Prime Minister Narendra Modi Strengthens Diplomatic Ties in Moscow, Russia
Desk Report, July 09, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an official visit to Moscow, where he received a ceremonial welcome upon arrival at Vnukovo-II airport by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. This visit holds significance as Prime Minister Modi prepares to co-chair the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit alongside President Vladimir Putin, aimed at bolstering bilateral ties.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi took the opportunity to connect with the Indian community in Moscow, expressing gratitude on social media for their warm reception, stating, “A memorable welcome in Moscow! I thank the Indian community for their affection.”
Highlighting the depth of relations between India and Russia, Prime Minister Modi was honored with Russia’s highest state distinction, the “Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First.” This accolade underscores the enduring partnership between the two nations, which spans over 77 years of diplomatic relations.
Following his engagements in Russia, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in four decades. President Vladimir Putin extended a personal invitation to Prime Minister Modi, hosting him at his official residence at Novo-Ogaryovo for a private engagement, further underscoring the close ties between India and Russia.
This visit reflects India’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships globally, fostering diplomatic relations, and exploring avenues for mutual cooperation across various sectors.
