Ravi Kota Assumes Office as Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam
Desk Report, March 31, 2024: Ravi Kota, a 1993 batch IAS officer, officially assumed the position of Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam on Sunday. He succeeded Pawan Borthakur, whose extended tenure as Chief Secretary concluded on March 31.
Upon taking charge, Ravi Kota was relieved from his additional responsibility as Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department. However, he will continue to hold the additional charge of the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department.
The formal transition of power took place during a ceremony held in Guwahati today. Prior to his appointment as the Chief Secretary, Kota was serving as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Home & Political Department. This department oversees Passport and Prisons, in addition to the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department.
With his extensive experience and service in various capacities within the state administration, Ravi Kota is expected to bring valuable expertise to his new role as the Chief Secretary, overseeing the governance and administration of Assam.
