National Child Rights Grievance Redressal Camp Held at Dhubri Govt Boys’ H.S. School
Dhubri, June 14, 2024: Today, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) organized a Grievance Redressal Camp at Dhubri Govt Boys’ H.S. School, starting at 9:00 A.M. This event was held in collaboration with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the District Administration of Dhubri, and other local departments including Social Welfare, Health, and Legal Authorities.
The camp addressed grievances related to child rights violations. Complaints were heard from parents, guardians, child welfare centers, and children themselves. Issues covered included Juvenile Justice, Education, Sexual Harassment, Child Labor, Child Marriage, Child Health, and Child Psychology. After thorough hearings, relevant complaints were referred to the appropriate departments.
A meeting was also conducted at the venue, chaired by DC Dhubri, Sri Dibakar Nath (I.A.S.). Key figures such as Additional S.P. Smti Dipti Mali, NCPCR member Sri Ajay Kumar Dutta, SCPCR members Smti Mouchumi Brahma and Smti Mandana Sasoni, and District Legal Authority Secretary Asma Rehman addressed the gathering. Representatives from various departments were also present.
In his speech, DC Sri Dibakar Nath emphasized the need for more initiatives to address child rights issues in the district. He highlighted that collective efforts from all departments are essential for resolving these cases promptly. Sri Ajay Kumar Dutta mentioned that the NCPCR aims to resolve received cases within one to two weeks. He noted that over 700 cases have been registered in the district, with Child Labor and Child Marriage being the most common issues. These cases, often linked to POCSO, require cooperation with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
Sri Dutta also stressed the importance of conducting a population census to gather more information about children whose rights are violated. District Legal Authority Secretary Asma Rehman called for increased awareness to prevent children from being deprived of their basic rights. She urged every citizen to help and rescue children in distress.
The Redressal Camp also provided several additional services, including an Aadhar camp, disability pension and aids distribution, disability certificate camp, health check-ups by the RBSK team, Ayushman Bharat Card camp, and bank account opening camp.
