Applications Open for Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for ST Students in Assam
Guwahati, July 23, 2024: The applications for Pre-Matric (Class IX & X) and Post-Matric scholarships for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in Assam for the academic year 2024-25 are now open. Interested students can apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in. The deadline for Pre-Matric applications is August 31, 2024, while the deadline for Post-Matric applications is October 31, 2024.
Eligible students studying in Government, Government-Aided, or Government-Recognized schools, higher secondary institutions, colleges, universities, including medical and technical institutions with valid U-DISE, AISHE, or NCVT codes, must submit their applications online.
Scholarship Eligibility and Application Requirements:
For Pre-Matric scholarships, students must be studying in Class IX or X, with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2.50 lakh. For Post-Matric scholarships, students with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 2.50 lakh are eligible.
Students applying for these scholarships must register themselves on the NSP through the “NSP OTR” app available on the Google Play Store. Face authentication is required to generate a One Time Registration (OTR) number, which is mandatory for applying for scholarships from the academic year 2024-25 onwards. Additionally, students must have an Aadhaar number and a mobile number registered with Aadhaar to generate the OTR.
Documentation and Bank Account Requirements:
While filling out the online application form, students must upload an income certificate of their parents or guardians issued by the concerned Circle or Revenue Officer. They must also upload a caste certificate issued by the office of the District Commissioner of their respective districts. If there is a discrepancy between the applicant’s name or surname on the application form and the caste certificate, an affidavit duly notarized justifying the difference must be submitted.
Students must also have a valid bank account seeded with their Aadhaar, as scholarships will be credited only into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts.
