Assam Government Launches Statewide Screening Camp for Children with Heart and Blood Diseases
Guwahati, August 27, 2024: The Assam Government’s statewide screening camp, scheduled from September 1 to 10, 2024, is a pivotal initiative aimed at addressing the healthcare needs of children suffering from complex heart and blood-related diseases. Spearheaded by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, this camp is part of the “SNEHASPARSHA” program, which focuses on providing specialized medical support to children across Assam.
The screening camp will cater to two key groups of children:
1. Children Needing Bone Marrow Transplants: This includes children aged 0-14 years who are suffering from conditions such as leukemia, thalassemia, and rare blood disorders. These children will receive 100% healthcare support, including access to referral services for designated hospitals capable of providing the necessary treatment.
2. Children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD): The camp will also focus on children aged 0-18 years diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Given the severity and lifelong implications of CHD, the government has ensured that these children will receive comprehensive medical support, including any necessary referrals to specialized healthcare facilities.
The camp will be conducted across multiple locations in Assam, ensuring broad coverage and accessibility for families. The designated screening centers and their corresponding dates are as follows:
