STF Nabs Alleged Drug Traffickers: Seizes 280 Grams of Heroin in Narcotics Bust
Guwahati, March 02, 2024: In a significant development, the Special Task Force (STF) in Assam has successfully apprehended two individuals suspected of drug trafficking. The apprehension occurred during a meticulously planned operation aimed at intercepting narcotics transportation from Mancachar to Lalmati in Guwahati and Shillong.
Initially intended to be intercepted in the Palasbari area, the culprits managed to evade law enforcement and fled towards Guwahati. However, their attempt to escape was thwarted when they were finally apprehended at the Shivam Service Station in Beharbari by the vigilant STF team on the morning of March 2, 2024.

During the operation, a substantial quantity of illicit substances was seized from the suspects. Specifically, 20 soap boxes containing heroin, with a total weight of 280 grams, were confiscated. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Jiaul Hassan from Bakurchar and Md Arshad Ali from Kakripara, Mankachar.
Legal proceedings have swiftly commenced against the apprehended individuals, marking a crucial step towards ensuring accountability in combating drug-related crimes. Notably, the successful operation was led by Kalyan Kumar Pathak, APS, Additional Superintendent of Police (STF), underscoring the expertise and dedication of law enforcement personnel in tackling the scourge of narcotics trafficking in the region.
