STF Assam Busts Fake Currency Racket in Jalukbari, Seizes FICN and Equipment
Guwahati, August 10, 2024: In a significant operation, a team from the Special Task Force (STF), Assam, apprehended a suspect involved in circulating Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in the Debkota Nagar area of Pachim Boragaon, under the jurisdiction of Jalukbari Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence, the STF carried out a raid that led to the seizure of counterfeit currency worth ₹1,02,500.
Alongside the fake currency, the team also seized four counterfeit gold items of varying shapes and sizes, collectively weighing 2.86 kilograms. Additionally, two machines used in the production of FICN and a mobile handset were recovered from the suspect.
The operation is seen as a significant step in curbing the circulation of counterfeit currency in the region. The STF continues its investigation to unearth further links to the racket.
