STF Assam Conducts Successful Raid in Guwahati; Two Arrested and Significant Amount of Heroin Seized
Guwahati, June 06, 2024: In a decisive operation conducted on the afternoon of June 5, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam raided a rented house in Beharbari, Sonkuchi under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. The raid led to the apprehension of two suspected drug peddlers and the seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Surya Kumar Sarma, also known as Chintu, aged 23, and Rahul Boro, also known as Ganesh, aged 25, both residents of Sonkuchi Beharbari, Kamrup (Metro).
During the operation, the STF recovered 57 vials containing suspected heroin, with a total weight of 82 grams. In addition to the drugs, the officers seized Rs. 700 in cash and two mobile phones.
The STF has initiated the necessary formalities following the successful raid. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace in the region.
