STF Assam Intercepts Vehicle, Seizes 250 Bags of Urea and DAP Fertilizer in Singimari
Guwahati, August 30, 2024: In a significant operation, a team from the Special Task Force (STF), Assam, acting on a credible tip-off, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS 15 AC 7107 at Singimari under Hajo Police Station. The vehicle was suspected of illegally transporting Urea fertilizer. Upon thorough inspection, the STF team uncovered a large consignment of 250 bags of fertilizer, including Urea and Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), both from IFFCO. This seizure highlights the ongoing efforts by Assam’s law enforcement to curb illegal activities involving agricultural inputs.
The driver of the intercepted vehicle was immediately apprehended by the STF team. The vehicle, a critical component in the transportation of the contraband, along with a mobile handset, was also seized as part of the operation. The apprehension of the driver is expected to lead to further investigations into the source and intended destination of the fertilizer, as the STF intensifies its crackdown on such illegal practices.
