STF Assam Seizes Fake Indian Currency Worth Rs 6.68 Lakh in Guwahati Operation
Guwahati, August 14, 2024: In a significant crackdown on counterfeit currency circulation, a team from the Special Task Force (STF), Assam, carried out a targeted operation against Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) at Down Town under Dispur Police Station in Guwahati. Acting on specific intelligence, the team apprehended an individual involved in the illegal activity.
During the operation, the STF team seized fake currency notes with a total face value of Rs 6,68,500. The counterfeit notes consisted of 1,337 pieces, each of Rs 500 denomination. The apprehended individual is currently under investigation, and further legal action is expected.
The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies in Assam to combat the menace of fake currency, which poses a serious threat to the state’s economy and security. The authorities are continuing their investigations to trace the source and network behind the counterfeit currency racket.
