Assam Power Distribution Company Limited Urges Consumers to Observe Earth Hour
Desk Report, March 23, 2024: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) is encouraging consumers to participate in “Earth Hour” on March 23, 2024, to show their support for environmental conservation.
So, what exactly is Earth Hour? Organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour is a global initiative that brings together individuals, communities, businesses, and governments to take a stand against environmental issues.
During Earth Hour, participants are asked to turn off non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time.
The APDCL has taken to platform ‘X’ to spread the message. They wrote, “APDCL requests our esteemed consumers to observe the ‘EARTH HOUR’ on 23rd March, 2024, Saturday by switching off the *non-essential lights* from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM as a support to WWF-INDIA.”
Earth Hour began in 2007 as a symbolic event in Sydney, Australia. Millions of people turned off their lights to raise awareness about climate change. Since then, this initiative has grown into a massive grassroots movement, engaging millions across 190 countries.
But Earth Hour is more than just turning off lights. It serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to address climate change and other environmental challenges. Participants demonstrate their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint by dimming the lights.
Furthermore, Earth Hour aims to spark conversations, inspire sustainable actions, and advocate for policy changes to protect our planet.
In conclusion, APDCL’s call to observe Earth Hour is a significant step towards promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. So, let’s all join hands and dim our non-essential lights on March 23 to support this meaningful cause.
