IAF’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team Mesmerizes Audience with Spectacular Air Show at Umiam Lake
Desk Report, March 08, 2024: The vibrant skies above Umiam Lake turned a captivating shade of red today as the Indian Air Force’s renowned Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) took center stage. Thrilling spectators with a dazzling display of precision flying, SKAT showcased the exceptional skills and capabilities of IAF pilots.
In a scintillating performance, the nine-aircraft Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team demonstrated professionalism and precision, hallmarking the excellence of the Indian Air Force. The awe-inspiring airshow also featured the Sukhoi-30 MKI, Rafale, and Chetak/Cheetah Helicopters, adding to the spectacle.
Present at the event were dignitaries including the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan, and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. Students, military personnel, and the public alike marveled at the breathtaking aerial maneuvers.
Formed in 1996, SKAT is a unique nine-aircraft aerobatics team, the only one in Asia. Having executed over 500 displays in India and showcased their prowess internationally in countries like China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and UAE, SKAT epitomizes the professionalism of the Indian Air Force.
Expressing gratitude, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma commended the Indian Air Force for the mesmerizing performance, stating that he takes pride in the Armed Forces’ dedicated service to the nation.
