Actor Noor Malabika Das of “The Trial” Found Dead in Mumbai Flat
Desk Report, June 10, 2024: Actor Noor Malabika Das, known for her role in the 2023 legal drama “The Trial” alongside Kajol, was found dead in her Mumbai flat. Police suspect suicide as the cause of death.
The 37-year-old actor, originally from Assam and a former air hostess, was discovered by authorities after neighbors noticed a foul odor emanating from her Lokhandwala apartment. Upon arrival, the police found her body in a decomposed state, hanging from the ceiling fan.
ANI reported the incident, highlighting that the neighbors had alerted the police. The authorities then transported her body to Goregaon’s Siddharth Hospital for a post-mortem examination. A thorough search of the apartment led to the collection of medicines, her mobile phone, and a diary for further investigation.
Despite efforts to contact her family, no immediate relatives were available. As a result, the police performed her last rites on Sunday with the assistance of the Mamdani Health and Education Trust NGO, which handles cremations of unclaimed bodies in the city. An officer informed Mid-Day that they had spoken to her family, who had returned to their native place two weeks earlier. The investigation remains ongoing.
Actor Aloknath Pathak, a close friend, expressed deep sorrow over her death. He noted their long professional relationship and mentioned that her family had lived with her in Mumbai until recently.
Noor Malabika Das had a distinguished career in Hindi films and web series, including “Siskiyaan,” “Walkaman,” “Teekhi Chatni,” “Jaghanya Upaya,” and “Charamsukh.” Her sudden death has left the entertainment industry and her fans in profound shock.
