Lakhimpur, February 13, 2024: In a significant move against illicit timber activities, Lakhimpur Forest authorities have successfully seized valuable timbers, arresting two individuals in the process. The decisive action occurred in Lakhimpur, where 81 cubic feet of singori wood was seized from an unregistered tractor.
The operation, led by Assistant Conservator of Forest cum In-Charge, North Lakhimpur Range, Harish Ch. Nath, exposed a covert scheme to transport timber illegally from Kakoi reserve forest. Perpetrators chose the cover of night, using an unregistered tractor for unlawful transportation.
Biju Gogoi, alias Budhin, and Kushal Rajkhowa were apprehended during raids, conducted under Assam Forest Regulation sections. Both were promptly remanded to judicial custody, marking a significant step in curbing illicit timber trade.

Upon immediate information receipt, Harish Ch. Nath swiftly led a team intervention, executing a well-coordinated operation. They ambushed and apprehended the two miscreants with the vehicle loaded with illegal timber. The success underscores Forest authorities commitment to safeguarding the region’s natural resources.
