Traffic Arrangements Implemented in Kaziranga National Park for Wildlife Safety
Desk Report, July 01, 2024: In light of the recent flooding in Kaziranga National Park, several traffic arrangements have been enforced to ensure the safety and security of wildlife. Effective from July 1, 2024, the following measures are now in place:
1. No commercial vehicles are permitted to traverse through Kaziranga National Park.
2. Only private vehicles are allowed to move at regulated speeds during daytime hours.
3. Only local private vehicles are allowed to cross Kaziranga National Park during nighttime hours.
4. Commercial vehicles will be redirected at Numaligarh Tiniali, Bagori border, and Bokakhat Town.
5. The Officer in Charge of Numaligarh Rural Police Station and Kamargaon Police Station will manage the Numaligarh Tiniali diversion, directing all commercial vehicles towards Karbi Anglong.
6. Commercial trucks destined only for Bokakhat Town are permitted to move from Numaligarh Tiniali.
7. The Officer in Charge of Bokakhat Police Station will halt all commercial vehicles heading towards Kohora.
8. The In Charge of Kohora Out Post will stop all commercial vehicles coming from Bagori.
Officials have urged the District Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in neighboring districts to widely publicize these traffic adjustments to ensure compliance and awareness.
This directive aims to mitigate the impact of flooding on the wildlife of Kaziranga National Park, ensuring their safety and reducing human-wildlife conflicts during this period.
