Tragic Boat Collision in Dhubri District’s Tipkai River Leaves Several Injured, Five Children Missing

Dhubri: In a tragic incident on the evening of October 26, a severe collision involving three boats occurred in the Tipkai River near Kaunbari, Dhubri district. The accident took place when a boat carrying wedding guests, including several children, collided head-on with two other country boats near the river’s entrance to Kaunbari. The impact sent passengers into the turbulent river, resulting in injuries and a frantic search for missing individuals.

Witnesses reported a sudden, loud crash, followed by panic and cries for help as the boats, commonly used in the region, sustained critical structural damage. The collision left at least 20 people with serious injuries, while five children went missing amid the confusion. Local residents and eyewitnesses expressed shock at the intensity of the crash, describing it as a horrific scene of desperate attempts to save loved ones.

Following the accident, those severely injured were quickly transported to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital. Meanwhile, an extensive search and rescue operation was launched, with police, local divers, and community members combing the river for survivors.

Rescue teams continue to face challenges in their search, navigating the murky waters in hopes of locating the missing children. Authorities have appealed to nearby residents to stay alert and assist in the operation if possible.
