5 Dead in Cachar District Collision: Bolero Pickup and Auto Crash Claims Lives
Silchar: In a devastating road accident on the Silchar-Kalain road at Ranighat, Cachar District, five individuals lost their lives following a head-on collision between a Bolero pickup and an auto-rickshaw. The tragic incident, which took place around 11:30 a.m. today, left the community in shock and grief.
All five victims were passengers in the auto-rickshaw, with four of them reportedly belonging to the same family and residing in Kalain, Cachar District. The collision’s impact was fatal for those in the auto, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns on the busy route.
The accident scene quickly became tense as outraged locals gathered, blocking the road in protest. Traffic was halted for over an hour as the crowd demanded accountability and improvements to prevent similar incidents. Authorities, including the Cachar Superintendent of Police, responded swiftly to the scene to manage the situation and calm the gathering.
After a brief standoff, police successfully cleared the road, removing the victims’ bodies. They were then sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The entire region mourns the loss of these five lives, a tragic reminder of the dangers on Cachar’s roads.
