Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Addresses Party Workers, Emphasizes Development Agenda
Desk Report, March 22, 2024: The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, addressed a gathering of party workers today. The event saw the participation of officials and party members from various constituencies, including No. 92 Naharkatia Legislative Assembly.
In his address, the senior BJP leader urged party workers to collaborate in realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’. Sonowal emphasized, “Under Narendra Modi ji’s leadership, India is progressing towards becoming a self-reliant nation, an Atmanirbhar Bharat. We need to ensure that the people of Naharkatia are informed about the government’s welfare schemes.”
He praised the Modi government’s commitment to the principle of ‘Antodaya’. He highlighted, “Modi Govt has consistently aimed to reach the most marginalized sections of society. With efficient implementation of various welfare schemes, people’s living standards have significantly improved.”
Sonowal, who also addressed a meeting of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), an NDA partner, called for public support. He urged party workers to promote the achievements of the double-engine government, both at the Centre and the State. He stressed the importance of realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Naharkatia for Viksit Assam for Viksit Bharat.’
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Sonowal criticized their misrule spanning over six decades. He said, “Congress failed to ensure security, combat corruption, and foster development in Assam. However, under Modi’s leadership, corruption has been curbed.” Sonowal listed schemes like PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, PM Kishan, PM Awas Yojana, and Swachha Bharat, which have benefited the people.
