Guwahati Police Nab Notorious Thief: Jewelry, Cash, and Motorcycle Seized
Veteran Thief Arrested in Guwahati: Stolen Gold and Cash Recovered
Guwahati, September 18, 2024: In a significant operation, the East Guwahati Police District apprehended a notorious thief, Pupul Ali, from Barpeta. The arrest took place last night in a swift action led by a team from Basistha Police Station.
Ali, a seasoned criminal, was found with several stolen items in his possession. Authorities recovered a motorcycle (AS01 ES 0284), a Vivo mobile phone, and valuable gold and silver jewelry. Among the seized items were two gold Mangalsutras, six gold bangles, three silver anklets, and two gold earrings. In addition to these, the police also seized ₹150,000 in cash.
The recovery of these items indicates Ali’s involvement in multiple thefts. Further investigation is underway to identify potential accomplices and trace the origins of the stolen goods. Legal proceedings have already been initiated, and more developments are expected as the probe deepens.
The police have assured the public that stringent action will be taken, and efforts will continue to curb such criminal activities in the region.
