Guwahati, August 06, 2024: In a significant move to curb corruption, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, today apprehended Dhruba Charan Nath, a government driver, and Rahi Ram Mandal, a Lot Mandal, on charges of bribery. Nath was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe on behalf of Mandal, who had demanded the illicit payment for land-related work. The vigilance team executed a well-planned trap operation, resulting in the arrest of both individuals. Nath accepted the bribe in a conspiratorial act with Mandal, who orchestrated the corrupt transaction.
