Nandita Sarkar, January 27, 2024 – In a brutal incident, an extensive group of local residents launched a violent attack on police personnel as they were returning to the Bondihana police outpost in the South Salmara Mankachar district, having apprehended a notorious criminal.
The episode unfolded in the village of Chirakhowa Part-V in the South Salmara Mankachar district late on Friday evening, falling under the jurisdiction of the Bondihana police outpost of Fakirganj police station.
The police were in the process of escorting an accused individual identified as Ala Uddin, son of Abdul Latif and resident of village Chirakhowa Part-V. Ala Uddin faced charges filed in 2014 under sections 147/447/336/323/354/149 IPC at Fakirganj police station.
Approximately two hundred miscreants, supporters of the notorious criminal Alauddin, violently ambushed the police during their return journey. They forcibly seized Alauddin and assaulted and injured three police personnel.
In the interim, an informed individual alerted additional police personnel who swiftly arrived at the scene, rescued the injured officers on duty, and initiated an investigation to identify the assailants.
