Wild Elephant Tragically Killed by Speeding Train in Jagiroad
Morigaon, July 10, 2024: Last night in Jagiroad, a tragic incident unfolded as a wild elephant was struck and killed by a speeding train while crossing a railway line. The elephant, which had emerged from the Sonaikusi forest in search of food, tragically met its end when it ventured onto the tracks and was fatally struck.
Upon impact, the elephant succumbed to its injuries immediately. Railway police and forest department officials swiftly responded to the scene to manage the aftermath and ensure the area was secured.
Local residents, familiar with the frequent entry of elephant herds into the region, expressed sadness at the unfortunate but not uncommon occurrence.
